Evaluation of Exterior Protective Coatings for Seawater Immersion Service - Item No:21244
NACE TM0204
Organization:
NACE - NACE International
Year: 2019
Abstract: This standard test method covers liquid exterior protective coating systems for offshore platform steel structures, piers, docks, pilings, subsea valves, and wellheads at normal seawater temperature.
If the steel temperature is much higher than the seawater temperature, higher test temperatures shall be used.
The entire test time is 12 weeks.
Four test methods—including cathodic disbondment, seawater immersion resistance, aging stability, and edge coverage—are used to evaluate coating systems.
The curing time for all test procedures in this test method shall be a minimum of one week at room temperature 20 and 25 °C (68 and 77 °F), or in accordance with the coating manufacturer’s specification if different.
The cure temperature and time shall be included in the test report.
