ALUMINUM ALLOY ARMOR, FORGED

Abstract: This specification covers forged aluminum alloy armor, die forgings from ¾ inch up to and including 3 inches in thickness for type I, class A forgings, and from ¾ inch up to and including 4 inches for type I, class B forgings. Type II forging thicknesses should be as specified (see 6.2). Intended Use: The aluminum alloy armor forgings covered by this specification are military unique. The forgings are used in military vehicles to protect the operator and passengers against small arms fire and shrapnel.
