NFPA 2112
Standard on Flame-Resistant Clothing for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Short-Duration Thermal Exposures from Fire - Effective Date: 09/06/2017
Organization:
NFPA - (NFPA) - National Fluid Power Association
Year: 2018
Abstract: The standard shall specify the minimum design, performance, testing, and certification requirements and test methods for flame-resistant garments, shrouds/hoods/balaclavas, and gloves for use in areas at risk from short-duration thermal exposure from fire. Purpose. This standard shall provide minimum requirements for the design, construction, evaluation, and certification of flame-resistant flameresistant garments, shrouds/hoods/balaclavas, and gloves for use by industrial personnel, with the intent of not contributing to the burn injury of the wearer, providing a degree of protection to the wearer, and reducing the severity of burn injuries resulting during egress from or accidental exposure to shortduration thermal exposure from fire. Controlled laboratory tests used to determine compliance with the performance requirements of this standard shall not be deemed as establishing performance levels for all situations to which personnel can be exposed. This standard shall not be intended to be utilized as a detailed manufacturing or purchasing specification but shall be intended to be referenced in purchase specifications as minimum requirements.
