Abstract: This standard covers the care, use, inspection, service testing, and replacement of fire hose, fire hose couplings, fire-fighting nozzles, and fire hose appliances, and the associated record keeping. Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to provide requirements for the care, use, inspection, service testing, and replacement of fire hose, couplings, nozzles, and fire hose appliances so that the reliability of fire hose, nozzles, and fire hose appliances is increased when they are used at an incident. The purpose of this standard is also to establish that safety is a primary concern for the continued in-service use of fire hose, couplings, nozzles, and fire hose appliances and that safety is the ultimate decision to retire fire hose, couplings, nozzles, and fire hose appliances.
