Abstract: This specification establishes the requirements for an impedance-type self-retaining bolt that is intended for critical applications.Intended Use: The self-retaining bolts covered by this specification are primarily intended for use in shear applications (see NASM33602) at dynamic points in flight control linkages, engine control mechanisms, field controls, bell crank systems, and other dynamic joint assemblies of aircraft where the failure or omission of cotter pin or locking wire would affect safety of flight or endanger personnel. For procurement purposes, this is a critical application item.
