FASTENER SYSTEMS FOR AEROSPACE APPLICATIONS - Rev 1
Year: 2011
Abstract: This standard covers the methods of fastening, materials, finishes, test methods, and hole size and criteria of fasteners and fastening systems used in the design and construction of aerospace systems. In addition, it provides a comprehensive presentation of approved engineering practices, procedures, processes, and characteristics for fasteners.
Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to document selection and application information for approved fastening systems and procedures so the designer can achieve an optimum balance of performance, reliability, and exchangeability with minimum cost, logistic inventory, and maintenance.Intended Use: INTENDED USE AND GUIDANCE CRITERIA Information and guidance. Paragraph 6 in all applicable requirements in this document presents information and guidance for use of that requirement or parts listed therein. The paragraph is not contractual. Implementation. This standard may not be applicable to programs in the experimental, developmental, exploration prototype, demonstration, validation program phases where the advantages of the standard will not be realized.
