HUNTSVILLE OPERATIONS SUPPORT CENTER (HOSC) EMERGENCY& DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN (EDRP)
Organization:
MSFC - NASA - MSFC - Marshall Space Flight Center
Year: 2003
Abstract: The Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) Emergency and Disaster Recovery Plan (EDRP) is the controlling document used to outline the procedures for the successful recovery of HOSC systems services in the event of an emergency or disaster. An emergency or disaster is any event that destroys major portions of the HOSC and/or its associated facilities or renders them not being able to perform essential functions.
If the Center's Emergency Plan covers an event, that document will take precedence until the situation is under control and released by the Emergency Management Director (EMD).
The EDRP is written in a manner to repeat itself on purpose. The rationale behind the organization of the document is to ensure all teams with recovery responsibilities have these procedures during times of emergency. Therefore, once an emergency condition arises and the team meets in their pre-designated location (Building 4207, Room 130), the EDRM can divide the document into sections and provide each team their specified instructions. This alleviates people trying to locate documents and procedures during times of crisis.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Plan establishes the approach for recovering from a HOSC facility disaster and identifies organizational contacts and responsibilities for recovery. This Plan defines the possible types of disasters; the procedures to follow; and members of the Emergency and Disaster Recovery Response Team. The integrated Customer Support Department will assist the HOSC EDR Response Team with recovery.
The HOSC EDRP is applicable to all personnel maintaining the HOSC as well as all users of the facility. The HOSC, as defined for the purposes of this document, includes Buildings 4663, 4207 HOSC Annex, and all the systems services they provide. System services include the facility structure, power, water, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), data processing, video, and voice communications. The recovery strategy for an emergency or disaster is dependent on which services and/or facilities are lost in the disaster. The EDRP serves as a guide to pre-disaster and post-disaster activities. The HOSC Emergency and Disaster Recovery Manager (EDRM) has prime responsibility for preparation, implementation, and maintenance of this Plan.
