NATO STANAG 7184
DEPLOYED OPERATIONS - ASSET PROTECTION FIRE RISK ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT - ED 1
Organization:
NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Year: 2007
Abstract: AIM
The aim of this agreement is to achieve a common series of attainable standards and management objectives to minimise the probability of a loss of military capability caused by an outbreak of fire or explosion during NATO Deployed Operations. This STANAG can aid the identification and quantification of an operational continuity risk to NATO and/or National assets using a framework of established Fire Protection and Risk Management practices. By virtue of the assessment of risk to assets and capability, the most appropriate levels of fire protection can be deployed and adjusted upon perceived local conditions; i.e. initial threat assessment and subsequent threat assessments. Although primarily intended for stabilized non-offensive operations, the rationale contained within this STANAG may still be considered for use in offensive operations and may reduce the probability of degradation to military capabilities from acts of terrorism.
