Abstract: This specification covers 28 volts (V), direct current (dc) generating systems, engine driven through belt or direct connection, to provide 60 amperes (A) for charging and operating loads. The system consists of a rotating field alternator with integral diode rectifier and adjustable voltage regulator in a single housing. This specification also covers repair parts for this system.Intended Use: Generating systems covered by this specification are intended for use in the high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV), 2-1/2 and 5 ton trucks, M939, and assorted construction equipment vehicles. The generating systems are used to produce direct current electrical energy for various requirements, such as lighting and battery charging, under all conditions of climate, terrain, and military service.
