Abstract: This specification, including Appendix A, covers PMS requirements for the preparation of Maintenance Index Pages (MIP\'s) for shore and shipboard electronic systems, subsystems, components, and support equipment. PMS is defined as a systematic approach to the accomplishment of work that will reduce the maintenance of complex equipment to simple procedures easily identified and managed, will define the minimum requirements of planned maintenance, will schedule and control the performance of tasks, will describe the methods and tools to be used, and will provide for the prevention or detection of impending malfunctions. Additional information concerning PMS may be found in Publication OPNAV 43P2. Intended Use: The PMS documentation being procured with this specification cited in the contract is intended for implementation at the organizational level of maintenance in the Operating Forces involving systems, subsystems, components, and related equipment.
