Abstract: This specification covers the requirements for an impulse cartridge to be initiated by one shielded mild detonating cord (SMDC) assembly to actuate the pilot's canopy unlatch thruster which unlocks the canopy before canopy jettison in the TF-18 aircraft.Intended Use: The assembly will ultimately be loaded and used in conjunction with other propellant actuated devices in aircrew emergency escape systems. The assembly was designed for use in military aircraft and has no commercial application.
