Abstract: This specification covers the requirements for the CCU-33/A Impulse Cartridge (see 6.1). Intended Use: The CCU-33/A impulse cartridge provides a power source for the rapid deployment of parachutes. This is accomplished by firing 14 slugs (2.5 ounces each) which are attached to the hem of the parachute, from a Stencel Aero Engineering Corporation Spreading Gun Assembly, Stencel Part Number SK 86-0051-1. The CCU-33/A impulse cartridge is military unique, as it is used for aircrew escape purposes and thus has no commercial application.
