Abstract: This specification covers synthetic rubber O-ring preformed packing used to provide both a high-pressure and a low-pressure seal within rockets. Only one type, grade, class, and composition of rubber as described in this specification will be acceptable. (See 6.1.) Intended Use: The O-rings covered by this specification are used for retaining the gases in prescribed rocket chambers and for excluding moisture and other foreign material. The rubber compound referred to in 3.2 is required where compatibility with rocket propellant powder and silicone lubricant are desired and where a low-moisture absorption is essential.
