TIA TSB-87-1013

Cellular Digital Packet Data System Specification - Part 1013 Directory Services

Organization:
TIA - Telecommunications Industry Association
Year: 2002

Abstract: Introduction
This Part is directed towards service providers and manufacturers intending to build or deploy equipment for use in the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) internal network. This Part does not directly impact CDPD subscribers or Mobile End System I-ES) manufacturers or the I-Interface between CDPD Service Providers.
This Part describes optional general requirements for CDPD Directory Services. Specific requirements for applying Directory Services to address specific requirements of the CDPD Network are defined in Part 1014 and Part 1015.
This Part assumes that the reader is familiar with CDPD in general, as presented in [IS-732-101] with a comprehensive glossary in [IS-732-102]. The use of CDPD Directory Support Services, based on the 1988 version of X.500 series of recommendations, is optional at the Service Provider's discretion. The primary source of protocol specifications in this Part is the Stable Implementation Agreements for Open Systems Interconnection Protocols [OIW-1] "the Workshop Agreements." By primary source, it is meant that where this specification uses a given protocol, it cites that protocol by reference to the Workshop Agreements.
This specification is patterned after [IGOSS-1]. However, while CDPD Directory Services are based on the 1988 version of the X.500 series of recommendations, the IGOSS Directory subprofile is based on the 1992 X.500 series of recommendations. The 1988 and 1992 versions interoperate.
