Abstract: PURPOSE.
Consistent with section 138 of title 10, United States Code (U.S.C.) (Reference (a)) and under the authority of DoD Directive (DoDD) 5111.1 and Deputy Secretary of Defense memorandum (References (b) and (c)), this Directive:
Establishes the position of the ASD(HD&ASA) with the responsibilities and functions, relationships, and authorities as prescribed herein.
Supersedes Deputy Secretary of Defense memorandum (Reference (d)).
Supersedes any conflicting portions of DoDD 5111.10 (Reference (e)) pertaining to domestic antiterrorism activities, consistent with DoDD 2000.12 and DoD Instruction (DoDI) 2000.16 (References (f) and (g)).
APPLICABILITY.
This Directive applies to OSD, the Military Departments, the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").
