LITTORAL PLANNING CHART (LPC)
Year: 2012
Abstract: This specification defines hardcopy production requirements for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Littoral Planning Chart (LPC), which will replace the existing Combat Chart.
Purpose. The purpose of this specification is to assure uniformity of treatment among all elements including symbols, accuracy, layout, content, and design needed for the production of the Littoral Planning Chart as related to tactical military operations covering coastal regions. Littoral Planning Charts provide an approximate 50/50 division between land and water, and provide hydrographic and topographic information in those coastal areas.Intended Use: The intended use for Littoral Planning Charts is to support amphibious operations, joint air/ground tactical operations, land combat operations, naval gunfire support, and special operations planning. LPC are also used for other nonmilitary missions such as humanitarian relief in littoral waters. Littoral Planning Charts are military-unique because of the classification of the product and sensitivity of the areas of interest identified by LPC coverage.
