MIL-M-24041C
MOLDING AND POTTING COMPOUND, CHEMICALLY CURED, POLYURETHANE
Organization:
NAVY - SH - Naval Sea Systems Command (Ship Systems)
Year: 1981
Abstract: This specification covers the requirements of two-component, chemically cured, polyurethane compounds for the molding, encapsulating, and potting of watertight electrical connectors, cables, cable end seals, circuit boards, and other electrical components. Intended Use: Compounds covered by this specification are flexible cold flow resistant materials with excellent electrical properties for use in sea water. These compounds will be used for the sealing and reinforcement of electrical connectors, wiring, and other electrical apparatus, and for their protection against corrosion or contamination. Compounds covered by this specification have been electrically tested to 1 megahertz. Compounds qualified to category B are not interchangeable with category A materials. It is recommended that where a material switch is contemplated, the material be adequately reviewed by cognizant personnel to preclude undesirable results. Some category B compounds are noted to have an objectionable odor during and after curing.
