CORRECTIVE/ PREVENTIVE ACTION NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

Abstract: PURPOSE
This Marshall Work Instruction (MWI) establishes the responsibilities and procedure for intra- Center notification, evaluation, tracking, and feedback for generic internal hardware/software nonconformances, customer feedbacks, and/or lessons learned requiring corrective/preventive action using the Corrective/Preventive Action Notification (CAN) system.
APPLICABILITY
This MWI applies to the personnel, programs, projects, and activities at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) and MSFC's Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), including contractors and resident agencies to the extent specified in their respective contracts or agreements. ("Contractors," for the purpose of this paragraph, include contractors, grantees, Cooperative Agreement recipients, Space Act Agreement partners or other agreement parties.)
This MWI shall apply to generic/systemic issues identified for activities and organizations operating under MPD 1280.1, "Marshall Quality Management System Manual" as a result of the procedures in MPR 1280.4, "MSFC Corrective Action System." It shall NOT apply to situations that meet the general applicability standards for Acute Launch Emergency Restraint Tip (ALERT) generation, as specified in MSFC, NASA, and Government - Industry, Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) requirements, standards, and procedures.
