Abstract: PURPOSE. This Instruction supplements existing laws and regulations to assign roles and clarify responsibilities within the Coast Guard, and provides policy and guidance to the operational commanders for the development, maintenance, approval, and exercising of Area Maritime Security Plans (AMSPs), and the development and maintenance of associated Area Maritime Security (AMS) Assessments.
