OCCUPATIONAL MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS and SURVEILLANCE MANUAL

Abstract: PURPOSE
This Manual provides health professionals with information and references appropriate for developing, performing, interpreting, and conducting occupational medical examinations and surveillance for Service members as well as DoD civilians.
Developing and administering occupational medical examinations based on this Manual will satisfy the basic medical surveillance requirements prescribed in DoDI 6055.5 (Reference (a)).
Occupational medicine specialists are available for consultation at the following centers of occupational health:

Additional information on joint medical surveillance for deployment may be found in DoD Directive 6490.2, DoDI 6490.03, and Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Policy 04-004 (References (c), (d), and (e)).
