Abstract: The purpose of this handbook is to establish a uniform system for recording and identifying the space allocated in Navy ships and to provide an alphabetical listing of all approved ship compartment titles. The Space Classification System should be used for assignment of a space classification number to a space. The space classification number indicates the function performed by the space. The alphabetical listing should be used to provide titles for all new or modified ship compartments. This handbook is for guidance only and cannot be cited as a requirement.Intended Use: The intended use of this handbook is to establish a uniform system for recording and identifying the space allocated in Navy ships and to provide an alphabetical/numerical listing of all approved ship compartment titles.
