MOTORS, ELECTRIC, SMALL ACQUISITION, OPERATIONS AND SUPPORT FOR PRIMER
Year: 1991
Abstract: The purpose of this handbook is to provide general information for use in reducing field failures of small electric motors.
Persons whose responsibilities concern the acquisition and operations and support of small electric motors may use this handbook during the performance of their duties.
Information in this handbook in general in content and does not amend or supplement existing guidance or regulatory documents. No attempt has been made to provide a handbook which teaches or instructs persons how to perform their duties.
This handbook is structured around references for motor design and specifications, results of an engineering evaluation of field failures of small electric motors to include case histories and lessons learned, and a decision network. The decision network, in turn, raises questions and discusses the process of acquiring, operating, and supporting small electric motors. Intended Use: By following the small electric motor decision network shown within this handbook the reader should be able to gain or expand an appreciation of the small electric motor life cycle, and thus help prevent or correct immediate problems associated with field failures of these motors.
