Abstract: This Standard applies to hermetic refrigerant motor-compressors (hereinafter referred to as motorcompressors) rated 7200 V or less, for use in air-conditioning and refrigerating equipment that comply with the Standards applicable to such equipment.
This Standard also applies to motor protection systems that may be provided with motorcompressors.
This Standard does not include additional requirements applicable to equipment designed for use in hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-1996, and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
