In addition to paper delivery, this specification also provides for digital delivery of data by using document type definitions (DTD). These DTDs are contained in appendixes A through J.
This document prescribes specific style and format requirements for preparation of manuals and checklists that will provide aircrews with those procedures required for planning and executing of a nonnuclear weapon delivery mission involving bombs, rockets, guns, missiles, spray tanks, dispenser munitions, and training or special purpose devices related to weapon delivery.
This document also covers the preparation requirements for manuals and checklists used in the delivery of nuclear bombs from strategic bomber aircraft and tactical aircraft, and air-to-surface missiles from strategic bomber aircraft. Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to: Det 2 HQ ESC/AV-2, 4027 Col Glenn Hwy, Suite 300, Dayton OH, 45431-1672 by using the Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.
The level of detail contained in this performance specification is necessary to comply with the requirements of the Joint Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (JCALS) system.
The markup tags described herein are based on rules outlined in MIL-PRF-28801 and the Information Processing Text and office Systems - Standardized General Markup Language (SGML) document, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 8879, as incorporated in Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Pub 152. Digital copies of the DTD (see B.4.1), Tag Description Table (see B.4.2), and Attribute Description Table (see B.4.3) are available (see A.5). This appendix is a mandatory part of this performance specification. The information contained herein is intended for compliance. Intended Use: This specification covers the preparation of documents that are intended to be used by aircrews in the planning and execution of all types of nuclear/nonnuclear weapon delivery missions. All information pertinent to the munitions being procured, for weapon delivery manuals, needs to be included in the appropriate source data packages.
