| scope | 1.1 This specification addresses layered, glass fiber felt pipe and board insulation for use on surfaces with temperatures from ambient up to 1400°F (760°C) continuous. 1.2 Glass fibers used to make this product are sometimes referred to as E-glass fibers. 1.3 Facings are not added in the manufacturing process and are not addressed by this specification. 1.4 This material is a high temperature, industrial thermal insulation that is typically covered with field-installed protective jacketing. However, jacketing materials are not addressed in this specification. 1.5 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.6 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to the test methods described in this specification. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee. | |
