ALLIED JOINT DOCTRINE FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF FORCES

Abstract: Aim.
In order to undertake the full range of missions, NATO must have the capability to launch and sustain concurrent major and smaller joint operations for collective defence and crisis response on and beyond Alliance territory. Depending on the situation, the Alliance requires sufficient fully deployable and sustainable joint forces, consisting of an appropriate mix of land, maritime and air forces, to conduct missions at considerable distances from home territory with little or no Host Nation Support and with the flexibility to respond to any sudden change in requirements. The timely availability of mission ready forces is crucial to achieve desired military objectives.
