NATO ALP-4.3

Air Forces Logistic Doctrine and Procedures

Organization:
NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Year: 2002

Abstract: Scope and Applicability. This document is applicable to all levels of command and covers the full spectrum of potential NATO operations both Article 5 and Crisis Response Operations/ Peace Support Operations (CRO/PSO) including those conducted in co-operation with the United Nations (UN), the Western European Union (WEU), and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). It is also applicable to non-NATO nations participating in NATO-led operations. This ALP concentrates primarily on fixed wing operations where command and control is vested in the Component Command Air (CC(Air)), but considers also other land based flying, Air Surveillance and Control Systems (ASACS), Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD)(when part of the Air Component), and dedicated communications units. Rotary wing aircraft, with the exception of those committed to Search and Rescue (SAR), are normally confined to land and maritime Component Commands (CC) which implement their own operational command and control procedures. This doctrine is not specifically directed at air forces integral to land and maritime components; however the general principles are relevant to the support of all air forces and may therefore apply. The Abbreviations, Terms and Definitions, and Publications referred to in this ALP are detailed in Annexes A, B and C respectively.
