description abstractThe considerable development around the world of the technique of continuously reinforced concrete pavements and the engineering and economic advantages it presents, have led PIARC to entrust a state of the art study in this field to the Technical Committee on Concrete Roads.
To this end a subcommittee “Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements” was set up.
Eleven countries and twelve US states have participated in the work of the subcommittee (Australia, Belgium, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa; and in the USA: Illinois, Maryland, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Arkansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, North Carolina). The information concerning the USA has been collected by Mr. John HALLIN.
Other countries such as India, Czechoslovakia and Korea notably, also use continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP), but we have received no information about them.
The aim of the present report is to provide authorities, responsible for the construction and maintenance of road networks with the information necessary to guide their choice, and enable them to make knowledgeable decisions.
