MSFC-RQMT-2892 REV D

GLOVEBOX INTEGRATED MICROGRAVITY ISOLATION TECHNOLOGY (G-LIMIT) REQUIREMENTS, VERIFICATION, & COMPLIANCE (RVC)

Organization:
MSFC - NASA - MSFC - Marshall Space Flight Center
Year: 2005

Abstract: PURPOSE
This document establishes an "end-to-end" verification program for the gLovebox Integrated Microgravity Isolation Technology (g-LIMIT) project.
SCOPE
These requirements are the basis for a verification program that will yield compliance data to demonstrate the g-LIMIT satisfies performance, functionality, safety, and interface requirements. These verification requirements will ensure the g-LIMIT capacity to perform mission objectives both safely and efficiently for launch on a logistics flight while located in the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM) or the Orbiter Middeck as passive stowage and then transfer to the International Space Station (ISS). While on board the MPLM or Orbiter Middeck, the g-LIMIT will be stowed in stowage foam. Once onboard the ISS, the g-LIMIT will be installed in the Microgravity Science Glovebox (MSG) and will remain on the ISS indefinitely. When g-LIMIT is not in use within the MSG work volume, it will be located in passive stowage, g-LIMIT requires a stowage volume of -1.5 Middeck Locker Equivalents (MDLE). There are two flight g-LIMIT units used in this verification program.
Verification activities include demonstration (functionality / performance), testing, inspection, and analysis, which will be conducted primarily at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). Some late verification activities may be performed at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). This document addresses the following areas:
- Functionality / Performance
- Mass Properties
- Mechanical
- Structures
- Materials
- Electrical
- Command and Data Handling
Thermal
- GSE
- Safety
- Human Factors
