Abstract: This specification covers the performance requirements for transparent armor used in armored military vehicles and aircraft. Transparent armor is the technical term for protective transparencies commonly called ballistic resistant windows. Intended Use: The transparent armor covered by this specification has military unique ballistic requirements and is intended to be used in military aircraft, ships, tactical vehicles, or other applications requiring protection against a variety of ballistic threat projectiles. Transparent armor constructions provide protection ranging from small caliber handguns to military rifles, and fragmentation from exploding ordnance.
