NASA JMI 8500.2 REV G
JSC ENGINEERING DRAWING SYSTEM
Organization:
DOD - DC5 - Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)
Year: 1992
Abstract: PURPOSE. To establish the JSC Engineering Drawing System Manual (JHB 8500) as the official medium for publication of a uniform JSC engineering drawing system, and prescribe responsibilities pertaining to the JSC engineering drawing system.
APPLICABILITY. The JSC engineering drawing system applies to engineering drawings (for flight hardware, ground support equipment, and related equipment) provided by JSC organizations. Additionally, this system applies to engineering drawings (for flight hardware, ground support equipment, and related equipment) provided by a contractor to JSC, unless the JSC Contracting Officer, based upon consultation with appropriate technical personnel, determines that the contractor's existing engineering drawing system is adequate, (e.g., complies with DOD-STD-100), and that the benefits to be attained by converting to the JSC engineering drawing system do not justify the expense of so doing. If this determination of adequacy is made, safeguards should be taken to ensure that the contract Data Requirement Description (DRD)/Data Requirement List (DRL) call for the return (at contract completion) of all original drawings transferred to, or created or revised by, the contractor. Specifically exempted are facility drawings (which are covered by the Facilities Drafting Manual), as well as drawings prepared exclusively for flight control support, training, etc.
