Abstract: This standard contains minimum requirements for the assignment, duties, and responsibilities of a health and safety officer and an incident safety officer for a fire department or other fire service organization.
These requirements shall be applicable to organizations providing rescue, fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, special operations, and other emergency services, including public, military, private, and industrial fire departments.
This standard does not apply to industrial fire brigades that also can be known as emergency brigades, emergency response teams, fire teams, plant emergency organizations, or mine emergency response teams.
