WAXES, COAL-BASED, FOR USE IN R8150 EXPLOSIVE

Abstract: This specification covers the requirements and quality acceptance provisions for coal-based waxes, Type I and Type II (see 6.1.1) for the manufacture of explosive compositions. Intended Use: The waxes covered by this specification are intended for use as desensitizers in R8150 explosive. Coal-based waxes commonly known as montan waxes: Type I - Hoechst Celanese Montan KP wax or equal, Type II - Hoechst Celanese Montan S wax or equal. Hoechst Celanese Montan KP wax and Hoechst Celanese Montan S wax have been found satisfactory coal-based waxes for use in R8150 explosive. If equivalent substitute brands are to be used, first article test report(s) shall be forwarded for approval to the preparing activity (see 6.5) prior to initiation of full scale production.
