GUIDE TO CONTAINER INSPECTION FOR COMMERCIAL AND MILITARY INTERMODAL CONTAINERS

Abstract: This handbook applies to the selection of any commercially owned or military owned intermodal container meeting the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and certified under the provisions of the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC). This handbook is specifically used by worldwide civilian and military personnel responsible for inspecting and selecting serviceable intermodal containers for shipment of Department of Defense (DOD) material.
Purpose. This handbook provides inspection criteria and procedures to be used when visually examining intermodal freight containers. Following the criteria and procedures contained herein will enable personnel to identify containers that are serviceable and safe for loading and shipping.
