GUN, MACHINE; CALIBER .50, BROWNING, M2, HEAVY BARREL

Abstract: This detail specification prescribes the requirements and identifies the verification procedures for the gun, machine, caliber .50, browning, M2, heavy barrel, hereafter referred to simply as the M2.Intended Use: To provide automatic weapon suppression fire for offensive and defensive purposes. This weapon can be used effectively against personnel; light armored vehicles; low, slow flying aircraft; and small boats. The caliber .50 M2 flexible version is used as a ground gun on the M3 tripod mount or various Naval mounts. The caliber .50 M2, M48 turret type, fixed type, and soft mount are installed on mounts of several different types of combat vehicles and ships. The caliber .50 M2 flexible and M48 turret type are both military unique weapons.
