Abstract: This specification covers one technical grade of bromochlorodifluoromethane for use as a fire-extinguishing agent. This material is also referred to as Halon-1211. Intended Use: The bromochlorodifluoromethane covered by this specification is intended for use as a fire extinguishing agent. Because bromochlorodifluoromethane is no longer produced, all requisitions must be for reprocessed material. The reprocessed bromochlorodifluoromethane covered by this specification is military unique because it is used in military aircraft and the parameters called out may not be required for use of the product in commercial applications. In addition, the military specification is used as a basis for the national specification for reprocessed bromochlorodifluoromethane.
