NFPA 72H

GUIDE FOR TESTING PROCEDURES FOR LOCAL, AUXILIARY, REMOTE STATION, AND PROPRIETARY PROTECTIVE SIGNALING SYSTEMS

Organization:
NFPA - (NFPA) - National Fluid Power Association
Year: 1988

Abstract: This guide summarizes the existing requirements for maintenance and testing from the NFPA 72 series of publications. It recommends procedures for acceptance and periodic testing by qualified persons knowledgeable in the equipment operation and test procedures of installed local, auxiliary, remote station, and proprietary protective signaling systems. It is anticipated that acceptance testing will be conducted upon completion of the original installation and following subsequent modifications, or additions, or as required by the authority having jurisdiction. The purpose of periodic testing is to verify the ongoing operation of the system.
NOTE: Requirements extracted from other publications are indicated by a dagger in the tables in chapter 4.
This guide is intended to be used in conjunction with other applicable NFPA standards for the installation, maintenance, and use of protective signaling systems, their components, and other systems that may be associated with these protective signaling systems.
Nothing in this guide is intended to prevent the use of other test methods or testing devices, provided these other methods or devices are equivalent in effectiveness and safety to that prescribed in this guide.
A complete functional test of the protective signaling system includes testing of connections to any equipment that is monitored or controlled by the protective signaling system.
