MIL-B-81856
BEACON SET, RADAR AN/APN-202
Organization:
NAVY - AS - Naval Air Systems Command
Year: 1972
Abstract: The equipment covered by this specification shall receive interrogations from X-band radars and transmit replies to appropriate interrogations at a different frequency within the X-band.
The equipment covered by this specification shall consist of the following items:
The equipment shall operate with the associated equipment listed in 6.8.
Intended Use: The function of this beacon set is to extend the tracking range of X-band radar sets, having X-band beacon receivers, by receiving pulse type signals from the radar and transmitting pulse replies in the same frequency band. The beacon also has 2-pulse received signal decoding and transmission encoding capabilities when required for identification or to prevent interrogation by single pulse radars when operating in areas having a high number of X-band radars. In addition, by selection of the proper operating mode, the transmitter may be triggered by external pulses for use with ACLS or for transmitting data in the form of X-band pulses. For use with ACLS, provision has been made for amplitude modulating these X-band reply pulses.
The equipment covered by this specification shall consist of the following items:
Type Designation Applicable Paragraph Receiver-Transmitter Radar RT-1028/APN-202 3.5.1 Control, Radar Beacon C-8752/APN-202 3.5.2 Antenna AS-2619/APN 3.5.3
The equipment shall operate with the associated equipment listed in 6.8.
