Standard Specification for Retroreflective Sheeting for Flat and Vertical Traffic Control Applications

Abstract: This specification covers retroreflective sheeting, translucent ink, and overlay film intended for traffic control applications. The sheeting serves either as the reflectorized background for sign messages or for the legends and symbols applied to the reflectorized background. Messages may be applied in opaque black or transparent colors. This specification does not cover temporary retroreflective sheeting used during construction. Refer to other specifications for these products.
All material furnished under this specification shall have been manufactured within 18 months of the delivery date. All retroreflective sheeting and process components on a single sign shall be supplied by the same manufacturer or approved by that manufacturer.
The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard.
This specification does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
