Abstract: This document defines the following roadway and area lighting equipment, which may be physically and electrically interchanged to operate within established values:
a.
A locking type 4-pin Luminaire Extension Module (LEX-M),
b.
A locking type mating 4-pin Luminaire Extension Receptacle (LEX-R),
c.
A Luminaire Extension Cap (LEX-C),
Notes:
Figures 1.1A, 1.1B, and 1.1C show informative 3D-model renderings of these components.
Figure 1.6 gives an overview of a Luminaire with a LEX-R, LEX-M, or LEX-C.
The equipment in 1.1 is primarily intended for outdoor application, although it may also be used indoors.
The equipment in 1.1 provides mechanical and electrical specifications for the interfaces between a LEX-M (sensor/communication module) and LEX-R (electrical part of LED luminaire) using a voltage up to 60 V dc max.
The LEX-C is used to cover LEX-R in situations where no LEX-M is being used.
In this case, the mechanical specification for the interfaces between a LEX-R and LEX-C is provided.
The equipment in 1.1 is a plug-and-play interface used with outdoor or indoor luminaires to add connectivity and/or sensing functions.
The plug-and-play interface supports future system and service upgrades.
Protocol for plug and play interfacing shall be compliant with DALI and Digital I/O between 7 and 30V dc (2A maximum).
Outside of Scope:
a.
Modules directly connected to the mains
b.
The functionality of the actual sensor/communication module
c.
The mounting method of the receptacle to the luminaire, including anti-rotation means
