Abstract: This specification covers a type of capacitance-discharge flashing light used for wave-off systems for shore based airfields. Intended Use: The wave-off lights covered by this specification are for use as emergency signals to inform a pilot that he must immediately execute a "go around" procedure to avoid a possible accident. A set of six (6) of these lights located along both sides of the runway near the touchdown area form a wave-off lighting system.
