Abstract: The equipment covered by this specification shall provide a dipped underwater echo ranging system capable of rapid search of the area around the point of immersion of the transducer, determine the range and bearing of any objects located, and provide information to assist in classification of the object. (See 6.1.) Intended Use: The equipment covered by this specification is intended for installation and operation in an ASW helicopter and shall be utilized while airborne to detect, locate, track, and communicate with submerged objects in the vicinity of the immersed transducer.
